4MP bullet on a 4.0mm lens: 83.7 degree field, 40m IR, IP67, 120dB WDR. The reach version of the 2.8mm. Trade only, blind drop ship available.

The reach version of the bullet. Same 4MP sensor and the same 40m illuminator as the 2.8mm, on a narrower 83.7 degree lens that trades width for distance. Specify it when the run matters more than the room.

On the same sensor, the 4.0mm puts a face at roughly 6.0 metres where the 2.8mm manages about 4.4. That is the entire reason to choose it. Detect range stretches to around 60 metres, but detect only means somebody is there, so do not quote it as identification.

Where the extra reach pays

Car parks, fence lines, driveways and yard approaches. Anywhere the camera looks along something rather than across it. Inside a room the narrower field usually costs more coverage than the reach is worth.

Common questions

2.8mm or 4.0mm on this body?
4.0mm if you need a face beyond about 4.5 metres. 2.8mm if you need the whole space. The housing, sensor and IR are identical, so the lens is the only decision you are making.
Does the narrower lens cost me IR range?
No. Both are rated to the same 40 metres. What changes is how much of the scene that IR has to light, and how many pixels land on a target once it is out there.
