A 16 channel recorder with all 16 PoE ports built in and 8TB fitted across two 4TB drives before it leaves us. For a single site of sixteen cameras or fewer, this is the whole head end in one box: no separate switch, no separate storage decision.
The number to check before you commit is incoming bandwidth, at 160Mbps. Sixteen 4MP cameras at 30fps on H.265 will sit under that in most scenes and can exceed it in busy ones. Total PoE budget is 240W with a 30W per port ceiling, which is comfortable for sixteen fixed cameras and tight if several are heaters or PTZs.
The built in PoE tradeoff
Cameras plugged into the recorder sit on its own isolated subnet. That is the reason this is simple to commission and the reason it frustrates an IT department that expects to see the cameras on their LAN. On a multi site job, or anywhere the customer's IT team wants visibility, put the cameras on a managed switch instead.

Common questions
- Can I add more storage later?
- It ships with both bays populated at 4TB each. Increasing capacity means replacing drives rather than adding them, so size it for the retention you need at the start.
- Will 8TB give me 30 days?
- Depends entirely on bitrate. Sixteen cameras at 4Mbps continuous is roughly 675GB a day, so 8TB is about 12 days. Motion only recording extends that but makes it unpredictable. Send us the camera list and we will size it.
